XPS (Extruded Polystyrene or Styrofoam) is used in applications where a higher strength to weight ratio is required. Styrofoam offers greater insulation properties as well as higher resistance to water absorption and water vapour permeability and reducing the risk of ice formation in cold store applications
Physical Properties of XPS (Extruded Polystyrene or Styrofoam)
XPS (Extruded Polystyrene or Styrofoam) has a standard density of 28 kg/cubic meter. Its thermal conductivity (K value) is 0.024 W/m.K @ 10 degrees Celsius. Its recommended operating temperature is within the range of -50 to 75 degrees Celsius. XPS (Extruded Polystyrene or Styrofoam) has its Compressive strength of 250 kPa, Tensile strength of 450 kPa and Shear strength of 250 kPa. And the water absorption is as low as 0.5 wt%.
