Processing room is the room used in the production process. The room must be of high quality in order to obtain safe and high quality products according to GMP and HACCP standards.
There are two major production systems: (1) Intermittent Production System, Flexible Manufacturing Equipment and Processes, and (2) Continuous Manufacturing System, not flexible Manufacturing Equipment and Processes. There is a continuous flow of raw materials through the production line (i.e. line production).

GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
GMP ensures food manufactured under safe conditions. This decreases the risk of illness or infection which may occur due to improper manufacturing, handling, storage or distribution of a particular product.
HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
HACCP is a systematic preventive approach to food safety from biological, chemical, and physical hazards in production processes that can cause the finished product to be unsafe.
The common operating temperature in the processing room is at 18 degrees Celsius. IXL Insulated Panel for processing room is complied with GMP and HACCP standards with the following advantages:
- IXL panels can be cleaned easily with water or water with soap dissolved or water with detergent dissolved. Then rinse with clean water.
- IXL panels can retard further flame spread and penetration.

Face Profile Option For Processing Room
For a processing room, it is recommended to use galvanized steel (CB) for rust prevention, coated with 3-layer Modified Polyester (Food Grade). This complies with USDA standards and regulations.

For a processing room that produces cut meat, seafood i.e. shrimp, fish; it is recommended to use:
- Stainless Steel (SS), Grade 304 matt: 2D sided coating with backing coat inside for better adhesion of face profile and insulating foam, 0.40mm thickness.
- LAMILUX GRP (Glass-reinforced plastic) smooth surface without rusting, 1.5mm thickness.
Insulation Option For Processing Room
To choose insulation options and its thickness depending on the temperature required in the processing room
EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) is generally used in processing room panel applications due to its insulation properties and high strength to weight ratio. Two grades of EPS are utilised in IXL Insulated Panels; P – Grade (standard) and F – Grade (Self Extinguish).

XPS (Extruded Polystyrene or Styrofoam) is used in applications where a higher strength to weight ratio is required. Styrofoam offers greater insulation properties as well as higher resistance to water absorption and reduce leakage risk.

PUR (Polyurethane) is made from fully cured foam slabs thereby ensuring they are flat and not subject to further shrinkage when cut. Besides being a high insulating material, it is also CFC free ensuring and Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of zero.

PIR (Polyisocyanurate) has similar properties to PUR. Even though PIR is not non – combustible, it does not burn in the same way as other foams such as EPS and PUR. When subject to fire, PIR forms a carbonaceous layer which retards further flame spread and penetration.
